Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, SECTION 1. AGENT ORANGE SETTLEMENT PAYMENTS EXCLUDED FROM COUNTABLE INCOME AND RESOURCES UNDER FEDERAL MEANS-TESTED PROGRAMS. (a) IN GENERAL- That none of the payments made from the Agent Orange Settlement Fund or any other fund established pursuant to the settlement in the In Re Agent Orange product liability litigation, M.D.L. No. 381 (E.D.N.Y.), shall be considered income or resources in determining eligibility for or the amount of benefits under any Federal or Federally assisted program. (b) EFFECTIVE DATE- The provision in subsection (a) shall become [Struck out->] effective upon the date of the enactment of this Act [<-Struck out] January 1, 1989.
