IN THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES June 21, 1990 Mr. SLATTERY introduced the following bill; which was referred to the Committee on Government Operations A BILL To amend part C of the Balanced Budget and Emergency Deficit Control Act of 1985 to exempt administrative expenses of the Social Security Administration from reduction under sequestration orders issued under this part. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, SECTION 1. EXEMPT PROGRAMS AND ACTIVITIES. Paragraph (1) of section 255(g) of the Balanced Budget and Emergency Deficit Control Act of 1985 is amended by inserting after the item relating to retirement pay and medical benefits for commissioned officers, Public Health Service, the following new item: `Social security, limitation on administrative expenses (20-8007-0-7-571);'. SEC. 2. EFFECTIVE DATE. The amendment made by section 1 shall apply with respect to fiscal years beginning on or after October 1, 1990.
