A BILL
A bill to suspend temporarily the duty on combination microwave
convection ovens.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the
United States of America in Congress assembled,
SECTION 1. COMBINATION MICROWAVE CONVECTION OVENS.
Subchapter II of chapter 99 of the Harmonized Tariff Schedule of
the United States is amended by inserting in numerical sequence the
following new heading:
`` 9902.85.45 Combination microwave convection ovens (provided for in No Change No Change On or before 12/
subheading 8516.50.00)................................. Free 31/97 .'

SEC. 2. EFFECTIVE DATE.
(a) In General.--Except as provided in subsection (b), the
amendment made by section 1 shall apply with respect to goods entered,
or withdrawn from warehouse for consumption, on or after the 15th day
after the date of enactment of this Act.
(b) Retroactive Application to Certain Entries.--Notwithstanding
section 514 of the Tariff Act of 1930 (19 U.S.C. 1514) or any other
provision of law of the contrary, upon proper request filed with the
appropriate customs officer before the 180th day after the date of
enactment of this Act, any entry, or withdrawal from warehouse for
consumption, of any goods described in heading 9902.85.45 of the
Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States (as added by section 1)
that was made--
(1) after December 31, 1992; and
(2) before the 15th day after the date of enactment of this
Act;
shall be liquidated or reliquidated as though such entry or withdrawal
occurred on the 15th day after the date of enactment of this Act.
