Mrs. Smith of Washington submitted the following resolution; which was
referred to the Committee on Standards of Official Conduct

RESOLUTION
Amending rule XLIII of the Rules of the House of Representatives to
prohibit a Member, officer, or employee of the House from soliciting,
distributing, or accepting campaign contributions in the Hall of the
House, rooms leading thereto, or the cloakrooms.
Resolved, That (a) this resolution may be cited as the ``House
Chamber Conduct Resolution''.
(b) Rule XLIII of the Rules of the House of Representatives is
amended by adding after clause 13 the following new clause:
``14. A Member, officer, or employee of the House of
Representatives shall not solicit, distribute, or accept campaign
contributions in the Hall of the House of Representatives, in rooms
leading thereto, or in the cloakrooms.''.
