A BILL
To authorize the Secretary of the Army to convey land to the town of
Thompson, Connecticut, for fire fighting and emergency services
purposes.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the
United States of America in Congress assembled,
SECTION 1. AUTHORITY TO CONVEY LAND, TOWN OF THOMPSON, CONNECTICUT.
(a) In General.--The Secretary of the Army may convey, without
consideration, to the town of Thompson, Connecticut, all right, title,
and interest of the United States in and to the parcel of land
described in subsection (b) for use by the town for fire fighting and
related emergency services purposes.
(b) Land Description.--The parcel of land referred to in subsection
(a) is the parcel, located in the West Thompson Lake project area,
identified in the survey, provided by the town of Thompson, on file at
the New England District Office of the Corps of Engineers.
(c) Reversion.--
(1) In general.--If, after making a conveyance under this
section, the Secretary determines that the parcel described in
subsection (b) is not being used for fire fighting and related
emergency services, all right, title, and interest in and to
the parcel shall revert, at the option of the United States, to
the United States.
(2) Procedural requirements.--Any determination made by the
Secretary under this subsection shall be made on the record
only after there has been an opportunity for a hearing.
(3) Right of entry.--If the United States exercises its
option to seek reversion under paragraph (1), it shall gain an
immediate right of entry onto the parcel.
(d) Applicability of Screening Provisions.--Section 2696 of title
10, United States Code, shall not apply to any conveyance under this
section.
(e) Additional Terms and Conditions.--The Secretary may require
that any conveyance under this section be subject to such additional
terms and conditions as the Secretary considers appropriate and
necessary to protect the interests of the United States.
