A BILL
To amend the Federal Election Campaign Act of 1971 to extend the
deadline for the submission to the Federal Election Commission of
campaign reports covering the first quarter of the calendar year.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the
United States of America in Congress assembled,
SECTION 1. EXTENSION OF DEADLINE FOR SUBMISSION OF FIRST QUARTER
CAMPAIGN REPORTS TO FEDERAL ELECTION COMMISSION.
(a) In General.--Section 304(a) of the Federal Election Campaign
Act of 1971 (2 U.S.C. 434(a)) is amended--
(1) in paragraph (2)(A)(iii), by inserting after ``except
that'' the following: ``the report for the quarter ending March
31 shall be filed no later than May 1 and'';
(2) in paragraph (3)(B)(ii), by striking the period at the
end and inserting the following: ``, except that the report for
the quarter ending March 31 shall be filed no later than May
1.''; and
(3) in paragraph (4)(A)(i), by inserting after ``except
that'' the following: ``the report for the quarter ending March
31 shall be filed no later than May 1 and''.
(b) Effective Date.--The amendments made by subsection (a) shall
apply with respect to calendar quarters beginning on or after January
1, 2000.
