Expressing the sense of Congress relating to the increased importance of the United States steel industry since the attacks on the United States on September 11, 2001.

Expresses the sense of Congress that in light of the attacks on the United States on September 11, 2001: (1) the United States steel industry is vital to the national security interests of the United States; and (2) the United States should place a priority on using steel produced in the United States in order to help rebuild our Nation and support any future military efforts in response to such attacks.

 was referred to the Committee on Energy and Commerce, and in addition 
    to the Committee on Armed Services, for a period of time to be 
subsequently determined by the Speaker, in each case for consideration 
  of such provisions as fall within the jurisdiction of the committee 
                               concerned

                         CONCURRENT RESOLUTION


 
 Expressing the sense of Congress relating to the increased importance 
  of the United States steel industry since the attacks on the United 
                     States on September 11, 2001.

Whereas on September 11, 2001, acts of treacherous violence were committed 
        against the United States and its citizens;
Whereas the United States steel industry has been weakened by the availability 
        of illegal increased quantities of steel being imported into the United 
        States by foreign businesses; and
Whereas in this time of crisis it is important that the United States does not 
        rely on steel imported from foreign countries: Now, therefore, be it
    Resolved by the House of Representatives (the Senate concurring), 
That, in light of the attacks on the United States on September 11, 
2001, it is the sense of Congress that--
            (1) the United States steel industry is vital to the 
        national security interests of the United States; and
            (2) the United States should place a priority on using 
        steel produced in the United States in order to help rebuild 
        our Nation and support any future military efforts in response 
        to such attacks.
