Mr. Bilirakis introduced the following bill; which was referred to the

A BILL
To amend title 38, United States Code, to provide that remarriage of
the surviving spouse of a veteran after age 55 shall not result in
termination of dependency and indemnity compensation.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the
United States of America in Congress assembled,
SECTION 1. RETENTION OF DEPENDENCY AND INDEMNITY COMPENSATION FOR
SURVIVING SPOUSES REMARRYING AFTER AGE 55.
(a) Exception to Termination of Benefits Upon Remarriage.--Section
103(d) of title 38, United States Code, is amended by adding at the end
the following new paragraph:
``(6) The remarriage after age 55 of the surviving spouse of a
veteran shall not bar payment of benefits under section 1311 of this
title.''.
(b) Conforming Amendment.--Paragraph (4) of such section is amended
by striking ``this subsection'' and inserting ``paragraph (2) or (3)''.
