Insulin-Free World Medicare Pancreas Transplantation Coverage Act of 2001 - Requires any medically necessary pancreas transplantation procedure to be a covered benefit under title XVIII (Medicare) of the Social Security Act, whether or not such procedure is done in conjunction with another organ transplantation procedure that is a covered Medicare benefit.

consideration of such provisions as fall within the jurisdiction of the

      To provide for coverage of all medically necessary pancreas 
         transplantation procedures under the Medicare Program.

    Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the 
United States of America in Congress assembled,

SECTION 1. SHORT TITLE.

    This Act may be cited as the ``Insulin-Free World Medicare Pancreas 
Transplantation Coverage Act of 2001''.

SEC. 2. MEDICARE COVERAGE OF MEDICALLY NECESSARY PANCREAS TRANSPLANTS.

    Effective for procedures performed on or after the date of the 
enactment of this Act, any medically necessary pancreas transplantation 
procedure shall be a covered benefit under the medicare program under 
title XVIII of the Social Security Act (42 U.S.C. 1395 et seq.) whether 
or not such procedure is done in conjunction with another organ 
transplantation procedure that is a covered benefit under such program.
