Mr. Mink of Hawaii introduced the following bill; which was referred to
the Committee on Armed Services

A BILL
To amend title 37, United States Code, to reduce the number of
consecutive days of deployment required before a member of a reserve
component of the uniformed services is entitled to the higher rate of
the basic allowance for housing.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the
United States of America in Congress assembled,
SECTION 1. BASIC ALLOWANCE OF HOUSING FOR MEMBERS OF RESERVE
COMPONENTS.
(a) Threshold for Level I Rate.--Section 403(g)(3) of title 37,
United States Code, is amended by striking ``140 days'' and inserting
``60 days''.
(b) Application of Amendment.--The amendment made by subsection (a)
shall apply to months beginning on or after the date of the enactment
of this Act.
