A BILL
To amend title XVIII of the Social Security Act to provide for a 5-year
extension of the authorization for appropriations for certain Medicare
rural grants.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the
United States of America in Congress assembled,
SECTION 1. FIVE-YEAR EXTENSION OF THE AUTHORIZATION FOR APPROPRIATIONS
FOR CERTAIN MEDICARE RURAL GRANTS.
Section 1820(j) of the Social Security Act (42 U.S.C. 1395i-4(j))
is amended by striking ``subsection (g)'' and all that follows and
inserting ``subsection (g)--
``(1) $25,000,000 in each of the fiscal years 1998 through
2002; and
``(2) $40,000,000 in each of the fiscal years 2003 through
2007.''.
