To amend title XIX of the Social Security Act to expand the current
provision of medical assistance to certain uninsured women who have
been screened and found to have breast or cervical cancer to also cover
ovarian and uterine cancer.

A BILL
To amend title XIX of the Social Security Act to expand the current
provision of medical assistance to certain uninsured women who have
been screened and found to have breast or cervical cancer to also cover
ovarian and uterine cancer.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the
United States of America in Congress assembled,
SECTION 1. SHORT TITLE.
This Act may be cited as the ``Ovarian and Uterine Cancer
Prevention and Treatment Act of 2002''.
SEC. 2. OPTIONAL MEDICAID COVERAGE OF CERTAIN OVARIAN AND UTERINE
CANCER PATIENTS.
(a) Coverage.--Section 1902 of the Social Security Act (42 U.S.C.
1396a) is amended--
(1) in subsection (a)(10)(A)(ii)(XVIII), by striking
``breast or cervical'' and inserting ``breast, cervical,
ovarian, or uterine'';
(2) in subsection (a)(10), in the clause (XIV) following
subparagraph (G), by striking ``breast and cervical'' and
inserting ``breast, cervical, ovarian, and uterine''; and
(3) in subsection (aa)(3), by inserting before the
semicolon at the end the following: ``or have been screened for
ovarian and uterine cancer under an appropriate program of the
Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to screen women for
ovarian and uterine cancer as a preventive health measure and
need treatment for ovarian or uterine cancer''.
(b) Presumptive Eligibility.--Section 1920B of such Act (42 U.S.C.
1396r-1b) is amended--
(1) in the heading, by striking ``breast or cervical'' and
inserting ``breast, cervical, ovarian, or uterine''; and
(2) in subsection (a), by striking ``breast or cervical''
and inserting ``breast, cervical, ovarian, or uterine''.
(c) Effective Date.--The amendments made by this section apply to
medical assistance for items and services furnished on or after October
1, 2002, without regard to whether final regulations to carry out such
amendments made been promulgated by such date.
