A BILL
To amend title 38, United States Code, to provide for an extension in
the period of eligibility for survivors' and dependents' education
benefits for members of the National Guard who are involuntarily
ordered to full-time National Guard duty.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the
United States of America in Congress assembled,
SECTION 1. EXTENSION IN PERIOD OF ELIGIBILITY FOR SURVIVORS' AND
DEPENDENTS' EDUCATION BENEFITS FOR INDIVIDUALS WHO ARE
INVOLUNTARILY ORDERED TO FULL-TIME NATIONAL GUARD DUTY.
(a) In General.--Section 3512(h) of title 38, United States Code,
is amended by inserting ``or is involuntarily ordered to full-time
National Guard duty under section 502(f) of title 32,'' after ``title
10,''.
(b) Effective Date.--The amendment made by subsection (a) shall
take effect September 11, 2001.
