A bill to amend title 10 United States Code, to increase the amounts of educational assistance for members of the Selected Reserve, and for other purposes.

Increases, for months occurring during FY 2004 through 2007, the rates of basic educational assistance for members of the Selected Reserve. Prohibits any cost-of-living adjustment to such rates for FY 2005 through 2007.

   To amend title 10 United States Code, to increase the amounts of 
  educational assistance for members of the Selected Reserve, and for 
                            other purposes.

    Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the 
United States of America in Congress assembled,

SECTION 1. INCREASE IN AMOUNTS OF EDUCATIONAL ASSISTANCE UNDER 
              MONTGOMERY GI BILL FOR MEMBERS OF THE SELECTED RESERVE.

    (a) Increase in Rates for Fiscal Years 2005 Through 2007.--Section 
16131(b)(1) of title 10, United States Code, is amended by striking 
subparagraphs (A), (B), and (C) and inserting the following new 
subparagraphs:
            ``(A) for each month of full-time pursuit of a program of 
        education--
                    ``(i) for months occurring during fiscal year 2004, 
                $282;
                    ``(ii) for months occurring during fiscal year 
                2005, $332;
                    ``(iii) for months occurring during fiscal year 
                2006, $397; and
                    ``(iv) for months occurring during fiscal year 
                2007, $467;
            ``(B) for each month of three-quarter-time pursuit of a 
        program of education--
                    ``(i) for months occurring during fiscal year 2004, 
                $212;
                    ``(ii) for months occurring during fiscal year 
                2005, $242;
                    ``(iii) for months occurring during fiscal year 
                2006, $283; and
                    ``(iv) for months occurring during fiscal year 
                2007, $325;
            ``(C) for each month of half-time pursuit of a program of 
        education--
                    ``(i) for months occurring during fiscal year 2004, 
                $140;
                    ``(ii) for months occurring during fiscal year 
                2005, $160;
                    ``(iii) for months occurring during fiscal year 
                2006, $187; and
                    ``(iv) for months occurring during fiscal year 
                2007, $215; and''.
    (b) Suspension of Cost-of-Living Adjustment.--Notwithstanding 
paragraph (2) of section 16131(b) of title 10, United States Code, no 
adjustment in the rates of educational assistance payable under such 
section, as amended by subsection (a) of this section, shall be made 
for fiscal year 2005, 2006, or 2007.
                                 <all>
