A BILL
To direct the Secretary of Energy to conduct a program in partnership
with the private sector to accelerate efforts of domestic automobile
manufacturers to manufacture commercially available competitive hybrid
vehicle technologies in the United States.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the
United States of America in Congress assembled,
SECTION 1. HYBRID VEHICLE TECHNOLOGIES.
As soon as practicable after the date of enactment of this Act, the
Secretary of Energy, in partnership with the private sector, shall
implement a program to address the ability of domestic automobile
manufacturers to manufacture commercially available competitive hybrid
vehicle technologies in the United States. The objective of the program
shall be to accelerate efforts directed toward the improvement of
batteries and other rechargeable energy storage systems, power
electronics, hybrid systems integration, and other technologies for use
in hybrid vehicles.
