A BILL
To amend title XXI of the Social Security Act to provide for funding of
the shortfalls in State allotments for fiscal year 2007 under the State
Children's Health Insurance Program (SCHIP).
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the
United States of America in Congress assembled,
SECTION 1. FUNDING OF THE SCHIP ALLOTMENT SHORTFALLS FOR FISCAL YEAR
2007.
Section 2104(d) of the Social Security Act (42 U.S.C. 1397dd(d)) is
amended by adding at the end the following new paragraph:
``(6) Application to funding shortfall for fiscal year
2007.--The previous provisions of this subsection shall apply
with respect to fiscal year 2007 in the same manner as they
apply to fiscal year 2006, except that, for purposes of this
paragraph--
``(A) any reference to `2006', `2005', or `2004'
shall be deemed a reference to `2007', `2006', and
`2005', respectively; and
``(B) there shall be substituted for the dollar
amount specified in paragraph (1), and shall be treated
as the amount appropriated under such paragraph, an
amount equal to the sum of the additional allotments
described in paragraph (3), as applied under this
paragraph, but in no case more than $900,000,000.''.
