Threatened Species Protection Improvement Act of 2021
This bill provides statutory authority for the rule published on August 27, 2019, by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service relating to threatened species. The rule requires species listed as threatened after the issuance of the rule to be given protections tailored to the species' needs. Prior to the rule, threatened species were automatically provided with most of the protections that are provided to endangered species.

A BILL
To codify a final rule of the United States Fish and Wildlife Service
relating to endangered and threatened species, and for other purposes.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the
United States of America in Congress assembled,
SECTION 1. SHORT TITLE.
This Act may be cited as the ``Threatened Species Protection
Improvement Act of 2021''.
SEC. 2. CODIFICATION OF FINAL RULE.
The revisions to the Code of Federal Regulations made pursuant to
the final rule of the United States Fish and Wildlife Service of the
Department of the Interior, titled ``Endangered and Threatened Wildlife
and Plants; Regulations for Prohibitions to Threatened Wildlife and
Plants'' and published in the Federal Register on August 27, 2019 (84
Fed. Reg. 44753), shall have the same force and effect of law as if
enacted by an Act of Congress.
