A BILL
To amend the Domestic Volunteer Service Act of 1973 and the National
Community Service Act of 1990 to provide training for certain
individuals to identify and apply for certain Federal grants, and for
other purposes.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the
United States of America in Congress assembled,
SECTION 1. IDENTIFICATION OF AND APPLICATION FOR CERTAIN FEDERAL
GRANTS.
(a) Economic Development Initiatives.--Section 103(a)(11) of the
Domestic Volunteer Service Act of 1973 (42 U.S.C. 4953(a)(11)) is
amended--
(1) by inserting ``and underserved'' after ``in rural'';
and
(2) by inserting ``, including initiatives relating to
identifying and applying for appropriate Federal grants for
such areas'' after ``most''.
(b) Training and Technical Assistance.--Section 199N(b) of the
National and Community Service Act of 1990 (42 U.S.C. 12657(b)) is
amended--
(1) in paragraph (9), by striking the ``and'' after the
semicolon;
(2) by redesignating paragraph (10) as paragraph (11); and
(3) by inserting after paragraph (9) the following:
``(10) providing training and technical assistance for
participants in the national service programs to identify and
apply for appropriate grants for entities in rural areas and
underserved communities;''.
