introduced the following bill; which was referred to the Committee on
Natural Resources

A BILL
To direct the Secretary of the Interior to issue a report regarding the
effects of mine subsidence.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the
United States of America in Congress assembled,
SECTION 1. REPORT REGARDING EFFECTS OF MINE SUBSIDENCE.
Not later than 180 days after the date of the enactment of this
section, the Secretary of the Interior, acting through the Deputy
Director of the Office of Surface Mining Reclamation and Enforcement,
shall issue and submit to Congress a report regarding the effects of
mine subsidence on communities, including--
(1) the effects mine subsidence has on the economies and
welfare of communities; and
(2) a description of each activity the Department of the
Interior is, as of the date of the enactment of this section,
carrying out to minimize the risk of mine subsidence to
communities.
