of Illinois) introduced the following bill; which was referred to the
Committee on the Judiciary

A BILL
To provide a civil remedy for an individual whose rights have been
violated by a person acting under Federal authority, and for other
purposes.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the
United States of America in Congress assembled,
SECTION 1. SHORT TITLE.
This Act may be cited as the ``Bivens Act of 2024''.
SEC. 2. CIVIL ACTION AGAINST PERSON ACTING UNDER FEDERAL AUTHORITY.
Section 1979 of the Revised Statutes (42 U.S.C. 1983) is amended by
inserting ``of the United States or'' before ``of any State''.
