 Mr. Van Drew (for himself, Mr. Weber of Texas, Mr. Bacon, Mr. Meuser, 
Mr. Bucshon, Mr. Cartwright, Mr. Stauber, Ms. Stefanik, Mr. Thompson of 
Pennsylvania, Mr. D'Esposito, and Mr. Carter of Georgia) submitted the 
   following resolution; which was referred to the Committee on the

                               RESOLUTION


 
 Honoring the dedication, bravery, and professionalism of correctional 
                   officers across the United States.

Whereas correctional officers are vital to maintaining safety and order within 
        the Nation's correctional facilities, ensuring the security of 
        communities and upholding the values of justice and fairness that are 
        fundamental to American society;
Whereas correctional officers face significant daily risks and challenges, 
        including exposure to violence and high-stress environments, 
        demonstrating remarkable courage and fortitude in the face of danger;
Whereas recognizing the contributions of correctional officers strengthens the 
        collective commitment to a just and effective criminal justice system, 
        ensuring that these essential public servants receive the honor and 
        appreciation they rightfully deserve;
Whereas the mental and physical well-being of correctional officers must be 
        prioritized to ensure they can effectively perform their duties, 
        reflecting the Nation's commitment to supporting those who serve and 
        protect us;
Whereas appropriate resources, training, and policies are essential for 
        supporting the health and safety of correctional officers, ensuring they 
        are well-equipped to meet the challenges of their demanding roles;
Whereas their work requires immense resilience and professionalism, showcasing 
        their unwavering commitment to their duties and to the protection of our 
        communities, reflecting the strength and determination that are 
        hallmarks of American character;
Whereas numerous correctional officers have tragically lost their lives in the 
        line of duty, bravely upholding their responsibilities to maintain 
        safety and order within the Nation's correctional facilities;
Whereas their sacrifice underscores the inherent dangers of their profession and 
        the profound dedication required to serve in these roles; and
Whereas, in their honor, we remember and recognize the following fallen

    Resolved, That the House of Representatives--
            (1) honors the dedication, bravery, and professionalism of 
        correctional officers across the United States and recognizes 
        their crucial role in maintaining the safety and security of 
        correctional facilities and communities;
            (2) commits to providing the necessary resources, staffing 
        levels, training, and policies to support the health, safety, 
        and well-being of correctional officers, ensuring they are 
        equipped to handle the challenges of their demanding roles;
            (3) acknowledges the significant risks and challenges faced 
        by correctional officers daily and the remarkable courage and 
        fortitude they demonstrate in the face of danger;
            (4) encourages the development and implementation of 
        comprehensive programs and initiatives aimed at supporting the 
        mental and physical health of correctional officers, reflecting 
        the Nation's commitment to those who serve and protect us;
            (5) affirms the importance of recognizing and honoring the 
        contributions of correctional officers to strengthen collective 
        commitment to a just and effective criminal justice system, 
        ensuring these essential public servants receive the respect 
        and appreciation they rightfully deserve; and
            (6) calls on all citizens to join in expressing gratitude 
        and support for correctional officers who work tirelessly to 
        uphold the values of justice and fairness fundamental to 
        American society.
