A bill to provide to the U.S. magistrates alternative means of disposition of certain offenders in minor offense cases, prior to trial, and for other purposes.

Provides that United States magistrates may, in disposing of specified offenders in minor offense cases and with the consent of the United States and the defendant, place the defendant on probation for a period not exceeding 18 months. States that upon successful completion of such probation, the defendant shall be discharged and the proceedings against him dismissed. (Amends 18 U.S.C 3401)
