Supplemental Security Income Reform Amendments - Amends Title XVI (Supplemental Security Income Program) of the Social Security Act to set benefits under such title at the poverty level. Allows each spouse in an eligible couple to receive such benefits in his or her own right. Reduces from 65 to 60 the age of eligibility for such benefits.
Provides for the issuance of duplicate benefit checks where the initial checks are lost or delayed.
Directs the Secretary of Health, Education, and Welfare to establish an outreach program to assure that all individuals eligible for supplemental security income benefits under such title will be fully informed of the availability and nature of benefits and of the steps to be taken in obtaining them. Requires that any application for benefits under this title shall be acted upon by the Secretary within 30 days after it is filed.
