Recognizing the 30th anniversary of the historic visit of President Richard Nixon to China, and commending President George W. Bush for his effort to continue to advance a political, cultural, and economic relationship between the United States and China.

                         CONCURRENT RESOLUTION


 
  Recognizing the 30th anniversary of the historic visit of President 
Richard Nixon to China, and commending President George W. Bush for his 
   effort to continue to advance a political, cultural, and economic 
           relationship between the United States and China.

Whereas February 21, 2002, marked the 30th anniversary of the historic visit of 
        President Richard Nixon to China;
Whereas on February 21, 1972, the world watched as Air Force One, a Boeing 707 
        carrying President Richard Nixon, landed in China to inaugurate a new 
        era in relations between the United States and China;
Whereas in that same year, the Civil Aviation Administration of China ordered 10 
        Boeing 707 jet aircraft, marking the resumption of a vibrant trading 
        relationship between the United States and China; and
Whereas the visit of President George W. Bush to China on February 21, 2002, 
        commemorated the importance of the reopening of political and economic 
        ties with China: Now, therefore, be it
    Resolved by the House of Representatives (the Senate concurring), 
That Congress--
            (1) recognizes that the historic visit of President Richard 
        Nixon to China in 1972 provided the foundation for improved 
        relations between the United States and China during the 
        subsequent 3 decades; and
            (2) commends President George W. Bush for his effort to 
        continue to advance a political, cultural, and economic 
        relationship between the United States and China.
