H.R. 1016 — A bill to amend title 10 of the United States Code in order to establish Optometry Corps in the Army and the Navy and to provide a separate optometric service within the Air Force.

Establishes an Optometry Corps within the Army. Stipulates that original appointments in the Regular Army may be made at the grades of captain through Colonel in such corps.

Establishes an Optometry Corps within the Bureau of Medicine and Surgery of the Navy. Stipulates that appointments to such corps shall be made at the grades of lieutenant through captain.

Stipulates that optometric functions in the Air Force shall be performed by commissioned officers who are qualified under regulations prescribed by the Secretary of the Air Force. Stipulates that qualified optometrists may be appointed in the grades of captain through colonel.
