Food Stamp Nutrition Improvement Act of 1979 - Amends the Food Stamp Act of 1964, as amended by the Food Stamp Act of 1977, to limit food purchasable by food stamps to food or food products of only high nutritional value. Specifies a formula for determining such high nutritional value.
Requires food manufacturers or processors desiring approval to apply to the Secretary of Agriculture, and require the Secretary to approve only foods of high nutritional value, and to transmit lists of such food to Congress, to food stamp recipients, and to retail food stores. Provides for periodic review of such approved. Requires approval foods to be labeled as such.
